If you combine Breedlove Guitars technology, a jumbo body and a JLD bridge truss system with a solid sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides, then you have a smooth, mellow twelve string guitar that will perform well for many different playing styles. The bass response is the deep and warm bass that you would typically expect from a mahogany guitar. The mids come through quite clearly, and the highs are crisp and clean.

Fingerstylists will be pleased that the Breedlove AJ250/SM-12 does not come with a pickguard. Many guitar players prefer this because it allows the owner the option of including one later, or simply not including one at all and thus increasing the top's resonance. The model also comes with a soft cutaway, which allows for easy access all the way up to the 18th fret. You may need to reach a little to get to the 19th and 20th frets, but it is a short reach.

This Breedlove twelve string model is simply adorned. It comes with a satin finish, pearl dot position markers, and black binding, but not much else. This gives the AJ250/SM-12 model a simple, clean look, and also helps keep the price low.
