Time passes like a windmill. Every minute is a machine powered by heaven's wind. So life goes with time; its history, culture, and evolution move in the hands of a Creator. Birth and death, life's beginning and end complete a process that is called living.
The movie "Death Becomes Her," shows two women (Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn) obsessed with their bodies. A dose of potion promises them eternal youth.
Cinderella's wicked stepmother keeps a magic mirror to make sure she is the most beautiful woman of all. "Mirror, mirror on the wall who is the fairest one of all?"
The Old Man and the Sea by Hemingway, recounts an epic battle of wills between an old experienced fisherman and a giant Marlin. The giant Marlin is the largest catch of his life.
Stages of Growth
1 year old Most babies are just beginning to learn how to walk. Boys are often slightly taller and heavier than girls.
6 years old Arms and legs are growing longer, and he has learned to walk, talk, run, throw, read and write.
14 years old This is the time of puberty when many changes occur all over the body. Boys have suddenly started growing more quickly. Girls do the same, but their growth forges when they're about eleven or twelve.
20 years old Most people are full grown by this age, at least in their height. The muscles have not yet reached their full development.
25 years old The body works real hard for goal and dreams.
30 years old The turning point level when men and women discover what really matters in their goals.
45-50 years old During middle age there are few outward changes in the body. Some people especially men, may put on a little weight. Some men also start to lose their hair from the top of the head. A few wrinkles may appear in the skin, especially for people living in sunny places.
60-70 years old The skin gradually becomes more wrinkled. Most people become shorter because the discs between the backbones shrink.
80 years old This age level shows added time and grace living on this planet.
Man is created by God for a purpose. In every time he/she grows older is a gift. Some say that every moment be lived as if, it were the last; while others say every moment be lived to begin. Both are correct because life is 24 hours and the Maker of time is infinite.
How old are you now?
How can you account for your life?

Old Growth Urban Forests $49.95 Millions of urbanites never see primeval forests during their lives except for the old growth forests found in urban parks. Unfortunately, these forests are on the verge of disappearing because arboreal reproduction is lost to human trampling and park administrators and urban foresters do not maintain these "natural" forests. To aid urban foresters and park managers in meeting the challenges, research on old growth forests in urban parks is synthesized in terms of historical ecology to introduce the methods utilized to reveal long-term forest composition changes. The case study of three stands in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, PA relates pre-chestnut blight tree species densities and post-chestnut blight arboreal changes to fire and visitor trampling. The information gained on how urban old growth forests have developed and changed is used to develop restoration ecology based frameworks to restore species composition and address challenges to forest survival including invasive species. |
