Let Go of the Tiger’s Tail!

Sometimes we get overwhelmed and emotionally distraught; we get caught up in the minutia of our daily lives and this can become overwhelming. We miss the big picture and feel suffocated under the weight of the daily challenges.

 

The emotional world is filled with fears, anxiety, worries, personal-family-world issues, all exacerbated with thoughts about not measuring up and wanting to be perfect and so on that add to the extreme fear and worry that we feel. These worries, if unchecked, have a debilitating effect on us emotionally, mentally, and physically. When we feel emotionally distraught, it is easy to lock into the larger emotional field of humanity.

 

During times when you feel particularly vulnerable, you can help yourself if you follow some simple suggestions. There are ways in which you can protect and shield yourself from falling further into the abyss of life’s stresses. Irritation and fear are destructive fires; they are damaging to our life. We need to learn how to eliminate them to stay healthy and vibrant.

 

The Ancient Wisdom Teachings offer many guidelines and suggestions. Here are some that I have used myself with positive results:

1. Slow down, put the cell-mobile phone down and even shut it off. You do not need to be available 24/7. It is only in quiet moments that we can connect to the most essential in our life.

2. Quiet your body down and listen to some beautiful music. If you have Torkom's music, listen to it and let it sink into you. His music is designed to break patterns that are particularly damaging to our health and wellbeing. If you know some Sacred Songs or some beautiful songs, sing them. You will be pleasantly surprised. Singing beautiful songs helps me and I find myself humming throughout the day.

 

3. Observe that when you are stressing yourself and worrying and in fear, you are hanging on to the tail of the tiger and it is running the show for you. You need to take charge. Let the tail go, let the tiger go, live your life in quietitude and serenity. The tiger is not your life; it is a mirage.

4. You can take charge by being disciplined and putting boundaries around you. What is important that has to get done right now? What is not important that could wait or even be eliminated?

5. Learn the art of looking at life as a whole and not what someone else needs you to do right now. In fact, learn to say no, gently and nicely, and take time for yourself.

6.Think of the Great Ones and ask, "Lord, direct my life; help me see the reality of my life and see the truth." Or you can say: “O Self Revealing One, Reveal Thyself in Me.” What is the immediate problem in terms of infinity?

7. Remember that you do have a choice; make a decision today that you are in charge of your life and not someone else. We feel overwhelmed when we feel that we have no choices and that someone else is dictating our life. What is really dictating our life are our patterns and learned behavior. Try to unlearn what is not really you, and decide that you will not let others and old memories rule your life. We have life narratives and we need to take a serious look at these. 8. When challenges grow and try to overwhelm you, stay calm and let the energies strengthen you and charge you instead, and let your purpose and vision in life come out naturally and without forcing. In the I Ching, we are advised to rise like a flowing river when it is blocked by bolders. It merely rises and flows over obstacles naturally and easily, without anxious struggle. I love this image!

9. Take heart if you are feeling anxious and overwhelmed. Someone loves you and that someone is your Solar Angel. It is always with you, meditating and observing you until you respond to Its guidance. The Solar Angel is the Immortal Beloved who is always with you. You answer to no one but to this Beloved. If you slow down and become quiet, the answers to all your problems will appear before you. They are already there, waiting to be discovered by you.

I hope I have reached those in need today and I hope you take care of yourself. There is much guidance in the Teaching and Sacred Books of the Great Ones. Pick up any Sacred Book and open a page and read its guidance for you. Then close your eyes and receive the blessings of the Great One who is with you, always.
