The Gibson Les Paul bass guitar has been used by many of the world's famous artists regardless of their music genre. Everyone of them refined an unique and own style of using the bass guitar for our ear's delight.
EB-1 Bass and EB-0 were the first bass guitars manufactured by Gibson. These guitars were designed with the humbucker straight on the guitar's neck. When the Gibson Thunderbird (EB-3) model faced the daylight its design was much sleeker than its predecessors. It had two humbuckers located in the middle, with the neck and bridge in its sides. Almost all bass guitars have four, five and six strings with just the extended bass ones having twelve. The electric guitars has a magnetic pickup that help the guitar make a distinct sound. This sound can be enhanced by utilizing an amplifier and a speaker.
If you're a professional player and want a guitar from the high-end category, the biggest disadvantage of the Gibson Les Paul guitars is the price. Most of the people find the Gibson guitars very expensive, but the quality of Les Paul's signature sound is worth every penny. If you are a newbie or want an entry-level bass guitar Gibson has a lot of models and prices to fit almost every player's needs and budgets.
Some of the Gibson bass guitars have seven strings and many people think that this can affect their playing style and may find a bit troublesome the extra strings because they usually use a five string guitar. Another disadvantage could be the weight of these guitars. Considered by some players very heavy, these guitars may not be the ideal choice for beginners.
The Gibson Les Paul unique sound and versatility outranked very fast the disadvantages. These guitars are even today, after many decades, some of the most popular among the famous musicians of the world.

Les Paul - $14.99 The world of modern music just wouldn't be the same without the innovations of Les Paul, and in addition to inventing the electric guitar and pushing the boundaries of music with his "echo" (now known as "reverb") experiments, Paul also perfected the now commonplace practice of multi-track recording. In addition to his experiments with the electric guitar and modern recording techniques, Paul was also an accomplished jazz musician and star of the popular '50s television program Les Paul and Mary Ford. In this extended interview that also offers abundant clips of Paul performing and experimenting, the groundbreaking musician discusses his prophetic view of the music world -- a view that would have a lasting effect on generations of musicians. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi |
