Kitchen Door Knobs: A Wife's Choice
Of all the things a husband does not argue with his wife is with the remodeling of the kitchen. If the garage is the husband's domain in any home, it is the kitchen where the wife has absolute say and absolute power. The kitchen is perhaps the most used of all rooms in the home. It is the center point, the command post of where all things happen and perhaps all decisions are made.
When my wife decided to redo the kitchen, I agreed without hesitation and apart from discussing the budget—which meant that she gave me more or less an idea what she wanted to do and I agreed to fund it, the remodeling started. My wife knew exactly what she wanted, a workable kitchen that was both modern in its appliances but not too picturesque so as it would not be used. I was given the task of finding suitable kitchen door knobs and handles which would be apt for the design.
Thinking this was an easy task, I slacked off. I had other things to do as well like running the company I owned a residential refurbishing company. So the work on the kitchen started without a hitch as my wife talked to the contractors, friends of mine, who did the job as professionally as they could without sacrificing a good business relationship that I had with them.
She reminded me about the kitchen door knobs a week before the work on the kitchen was to be done. I forgot all about it. When the time came, I quickly contacted all my suppliers to please send over all the kitchen door knobs available. Late in the morning, I got the samples, all 500 of them. Sheepishly, I brought it to my wife for her to choose. She gave me that evil eye look, and as my friends who were there as it was the last day of construction all snickered, proceeded to make kitchen door knob choices that were uniquely hers. She decided on choosing some stainless steel knobs for the cupboard, wooden door knobs for the drawers and other sets for the different drawers and pantries. In the end, we had an eclectic set of kitchen door knobs, one for every drawer in the kitchen.
I knew then how important even the slightest detail on kitchen door knobs to my wife and to most women as well. It might just be a little thing in the house, but choosing the right door knobs help in many ways that we can imagine.
