Scat: youth development

Scat is used in vocal jazz and is simply done by improvising with the voice, using words and syllables which are seemingly absurd and incomprehensible. At other times, scat is obtained without using words at all. With scat singers are able to improvise rhythms, melodies and melodies, producing a sound like a musical instrument simply use their voice. Scat has been used by many as a jazz singer, especially since the turn of the twentieth century, to beautify and bring excitement to a particular song.

scat began to come into evidence in the first half of the twentieth century. Perhaps one of the most famous songs cited for her scatting is a version of Louis Armstrong "Heebie Jeebies", recorded in 1926. In fact, many people believe it was Louis Armstrong who first saw the day with the numbers of the first song using scat. However, as the jazz singer Jelly Roll Morton, whose peak of fame during the late twentieth century, the credit of being the source of scat should go to Joe Sims, an old comic of Vicksburg, Mississippi, who created "scat" in the first part of the twentieth century. Finally, the jazz singers such as Morton himself, Tony Jackson and others, realizing that scat is an introduction to good song, took scat and he did great in New Orleans, all as early as 1906.

There are several examples of previous recordings scat. A particular example would be "King of Bungaloos," which has ragtime scat choruses in it and that was sung by Gene Greene. Gene Green recorded this song and many others between 1911 and 1917, all with several bars of scat. Same interpreter Al Jonson has a few bars of singing scat singing "is Haunting Melody "in 1911. In 1917, Gene Green scatted part of" From Here To Shanghai "ersatz Chinese. In addition, in 1924, singer Gene Rodemich sang a scat a few bars in "Scissor Grinder Joe" and "one of these days."

Yet another example would be the interlude scat Cliff "Ukelele Ike "Edwards in the middle of the" Old Fashioned Love ", recorded in 1923. Another quote is" My Papa Do Two-Time No Time, "starring scat by Don Redman and Fletcher Henderson, who was released in 1926 just five months ahead of Armstrong's famous "Heebie Jeebies," with his group called The Hot Five.

Nevertheless, it was this particular performance of Armstrong that was the defining moment for scat, used to catapult to the institution. Interestingly, legend has it that Armstrong scatting while recording "Heebie Jeebies" because it does not know the lyrics to the song, thinking that this particular portion would be reduced to make registration at the end. For some reason, however, the whole song was released and ultimately proved a successful record at the national level. Indeed, techniques employed by Armstrong scatting in "Heebie Jeebies" turned to be a model for modern scat and influenced many a singer and jazz artists who followed his footsteps.
