First released in 1960, the Fender Standard Jazz Bass was primarily used by professional players of various musical genres. It was favored by many professional musicians for its rich tone and musical versatility. It was upgraded in 2009 with various features such as the modern single-coil pickups, shielded body cavities, medium jumbo frets, and vintage-style bridge.
Sound:
This Fender Standard Jazz Bass is great in covering a wide range of styles from rock to funk, finger and slap. At half volume it has all the smooth tones you want. It's kind of like an electric upright, deep lows, punchy highs, and smooth mids. It has an attacking sound and a warm, mellow tone. It's a big step up from the Squier in terms of its sounding results.
Playability:
The set up off the rack was playable but it definitely needs to be reset, especially the neck, intonation, and string height. If possible, you can have the bridge pickup replaced. At the currently offering price it's still a good purchase.
Features:
The Fender Standard Jazz Bass is made in Mexico. There is not a lot of features, but that's not always a bad thing. Sometimes simpler is better.

Overall:
The construction and hardware of the bass is worth the price. If you can afford it, you may consider swapping the bridge for a Leo Quann Badass Bass Bridge. And if you really love it, some Seymore Duncan or DiMarzio pickups can bring out even greater sounds from the bass. It plays better than a lot of other entry bass that one might consider buying.
