Playing the Fender Stratocaster is perhaps the ultimate expression of modern guitar chic. The American Standard series gives an old-fashioned vintage vibe. However, the American Standard series strats can cost close to a grand. For the more budget-conscious, the Fender Stratocaster Standard is another option.

The Fender Standard Strat is made in Fender's Mexican factory and is a step up from the Squier. Getting a Fender Standard Stratocaster is an affordable way to get into the Fender brand that represents high quality instruments.

Sound:

It has a sound very similar to the American strats, but the American series strats can sustain longer, and the lower end strings are brighter and more crystalline, while the sound of the Fender Standard Strat is rounder. Plus it holds distortion and clarity really well. It's perfect for crunchy, driving rock and blues sounds.

The bridge pickup of this Standard Strat produces that iconic twang, the neck pickup is more of a deep crunch, and the middle pickup and combinations give you everything in between. If you use it with an amp and a pedal, it gives an amazing Hendrix feeling.

Ease of Use:

The neck on the Fender Standard Stratocaster is pretty fat so if you have small hands you may want to consider getting an electric guitar with a thinner neck. The wider neck makes soloing difficult.

This Fender Standard Strat deserves an 8 taking all things into consideration. If you're are looking for a great sounding guitar, it's definitely a 10. If you're looking for great value, it's 11! However, while it sounds great, it does have limitations. It's great for blues, hard rock and clean jangley sounds. But it's not great for metal and definitely not jazz. But overall it's a great guitar with good versatility. It's worth to think about, whether it's your primary or secondary.
