A Christmas light installation business is one of the best ways to earn a little extra cash around the holidays. If you put a little extra work getting clients you can quite literally earn an entire years salary within 3 months. Here are 5 reasons you should start a Christmas light installation business.

Reason 1: The startup costs for this type of business are extremely low. When I started my business I was out of a job and only had a couple hundred dollars to spare. It was more than enough to get me started.

Reason 2: You can make a lot of money in a short period of time. If you're strapped for cash this is the way to earn a little extra. If you work hard and hire people you can easily earn enough income to last you until next year.

Reason 3: It's a very simple business to get into. Christmas lights don't really change from year to year (except the recent introduction of LED lights). It's a good idea to search online for lots and lots of pictures of installations so you can generate some ideas of your own (it's also a good idea to print them, put them in a binder to show potential clients).

Reason 4: You get to enjoy Christmas. This was very important to me. All of the installations are done a week before Christmas and I have 2 weeks off to enjoy with my family.

Reason 5: The opportunities are truly endless. Your first year may be a little slow because you're the new kid on the block, but you should easily be able to break the 100K barrier by year 2 with ease.
