First of all there are two types of Mesa Boogie rectifiers the dual and the triple. The only differences between the two are number of watts. The Mesa Boogie dual rectifier is 100 watts and the triple is 150 watts. In most cases you will never need 150 watts and for that reason I would choose the dual over the triple. The dual rectifier is a very aggressive and versatile amp. You can achieve a high gain with a lot of low end, which is great for hard rock and heavy metal. Also, if you turn the gain down and tweak the frequencies you can utilize the Mesa for a blues or mellow rock sound. In addition, this amp doesn't have the greatest clean tone in my opinion, so if your looking for something for clean open chord tones you might want to keep shopping. Most people believe that when if comes to either of the Mesa Boogie Rectifiers that they sound the best when they are turned all the way up.

When it comes to purchasing a Mesa Dual rectifier I would almost always recommend buying a used one. The reason for this is because the amps are built with superior durability and dependability. Therefore, by purchasing one used you will save yourself around a thousand dollars. The best place to find a used rectifier would be from eBay or Craigslist. In addition, when buying from either of these places do your homework so you can avoid being taken advantage of. If you choose eBay then always make your sure it is from a trusted seller with a good rating. This will help ensure that your product is in good working order and if it isn't the seller will take it back. If you decide to go with Craigslist then make sure you deal with someone local in town. Never deal with shipping or pay pal when it comes to Craigslist. It is almost a dead give away that someone is trying to scam you.
How much Does a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Cost
When you purchase a new Mesa Boogie rectifier you can easily expect to spend around two thousand dollars. The only added benefit of buying one new is that you know the history and it comes with a warranty. However, like I mentioned before these amps are built like tanks rarely ever have any problems. It is for this reason that I am recommending that you buy a used one. A used one will typically cost anywhere from eight hundred to fifteen hundred dollars.
