Big Baby

Baby's First Christmas is a big milestone, not of course in physical development (unless they were born at Christmas!) but in Family Traditions and most parents want to make it an even more special occasion, as this is going to be remembered by friends and family and in photos for the rest of this child's life! There are simple ways to make Baby's First Christmas special that don't cost a lot of money and these are what I am hoping to explore with you in this article.

Baby's First Visit to Santa. Most Department stores have a Santa during the holiday period for children to visit. Even if your baby is just a few days or weeks old, it is still great to have a picture of Santa and the Baby for years to come. If you go early enough, the photos that you take (or buy) would make great Holiday cards for friends and family... even if Baby was crying the whole time. Its a memory that you all will share every holiday.

Baby's First Christmas Decoration. Buying a Special Decoration for Baby's First Christmas to hang on a tree can be as frugal as you wish. There is no need to buy a pre-customised bauble to hang on the tree, you could buy any ornament and customise it using a glitter pen yourself. At out home we have brought pre-customised Baubles (blue for our son and pink for our daughter) which state "Baby's First Christmas" and the year. Every year when I put the baubles on the tree it reminds me of each child's First Christmas.

Baby's First Stocking. Hanging the stocking on the fireplace, or placing on the bedroom door is a tradition which most families participate in. There are many Stocking designs which you can choose from, and customise if you wish! Remember that unless you buy a stocking every year that the stocking needs to be big enough to hold gifts every year!

Any tradition that you and your family do is important that you involve Baby too. Photos or video of singing Christmas Carols, opening gifts, or any other tradition that is important to you will make a great reminder in the future of the fun that Baby and you had.
