Beginner Acoustic

So now you are trying to learn how to play the acoustic guitar. The truth, is that learning to play any type of guitar is a long running learning experience that really will have no end. However; for the beginner there is the task of learning their first chords and their first few songs.

Keep it Simple in the Beginning

Don't over burden yourself by trying to learn complex chords that are played up on the neck right away. Start of by learning the first basic open chords and stick with them for a while. There are tons of great songs that you can learn and play with just the D, C, G and Em chords.

Think Nylon Strings

You will be tempted to go out and buy a nice steel stringed guitar. It is best in fact during your initial learning stage if you use a nylon stringed acoustic guitar. It's just so much softer on the fingers and difficult chords such as bar chords will be so much easier with a nylon stringed guitar.

Consider Voice Coaching

Another great tip is that if you are going to be experimenting with singing songs that you are learning on your acoustic guitar then you would be well advised to take in some voice coaching at a local music school. For the beginner a few voice lessons can make all the difference in the world.

Learn From Multiple Sources

Of course there is so much new learning material to chose from now, including a huge variety of DVDs and guitar learning software. A good tip is to take your instructions from a variety of sources. For instance you can use the DVDs and software and take in a lesson or two once every month or so. Lastly, make sure that you get plenty of practice time in.
