When it comes to fly fishing in Arizona, this is actually more popular than you might think. What do you always think of when Arizona comes to mind?
If you're like most people, probably the dry weather, endless desert, and of course, the Grand Canyon. Therefore, how can you go fishing in a state like this? Actually, you'd be surprised by how many fishing opportunism that Arizona offers.
If you are looking to go fly fishing in Arizona, the number one place you should consider is Lake Pleasant. Only about thirty minutes from the bustling city of Phoenix, this is smack dab in the middle of the desert, and offers largemouth bass as it's chief attraction, along with white and striped bass.
In addition, due to the ever changing water levels because of the dry weather, the fish generally don't travel together, and are more spread out, which makes it easier to find them. They aren't confined to just one or two areas.
In particular, I'd recommend you go in either the spring or fall for fly fishing in Arizona, as the fish are most plentiful at this time. Of course, there is more than just one fishing hot spot in Arizona, and then ext one to cover is the Arizona with mountains.
When you think of Arizona, you probably don't think of mountains, but the reality is that Arizona actually has quite a few mountain ranges. In the White Mountains in particular, there are some tremendous fishing opportunities, and most of the waterways in the white mountains are not very difficult to reach.
Quite simply, you don't have to worry about parking your car miles from the water, because most of the water is fairly easily reached by road. Here, trout are the most plentiful, as they are in most mountain regions, and when fishing in Arizona, trout and bass are the two kinds of fish you should be focusing on.
Depending on the location you are going to, be sure to call ahead and find out the best time of year to go, because this makes a big difference as to how many fish there are available. The bottom line?
Fly fishing in Arizona is a very popular sport today, and I'd definitely recommend you check it out at least once during your lifetime, as I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the fishing opportunities this mostly dry state offers.
