One of the key aspects of putting on a great live performance is having a great sounding guitar tone that cuts through the mix. There are a lot of different ways that you can improve your guitar tone during a live performance to help you achieve a professional sounding tone that will leave your audience's ears pleased.
One of the ways you can improve your tone during a live performance is to cut back on the distortion. Too much distortion can make your notes sound thinner and cause a lot of buzzing that will take away from the rest of your performance. It's recommended that if you need a little extra crunch on your
guitar that you use an effects pedal rather than the amp settings.
Another great tip for improving guitar tone in your live performances is to use a tube amplifier. These provide a warm sounding tone and can really help to bring out the sweetness of your guitar sound. You will also need a great deal of wattage on the speakers too if you have playing in a large hall. Those small amps will not cut it.
The best way to improve your guitar tone when playing live is to remember that great tone lies in your fingertips. Developing good tone means you have to develop your techniques and skills. The best guitarist in the world could play through the worst equipment around and still make it sound good, because of his playing abilities. If you gave an amateur the best equipment and guitars money could buy, they would still sound like an amateur.
One of the best ways to perfect your techniques and skills is to practice and perform live with guitar backing tracks. Guitar backing tracks can be very beneficial for learning good improvisation techniques. Playing with guitar backing tracks can help you to be prepared for playing live and help you to develop the natural tone from your own playing style.
Guitar backing tracks can also be used to get better guitar tone by using them to play your live shows. Using guitar backing tracks for live shows are like being backed by a professional sounding band, which can help you to find a great quality tone. Guitar backing tracks are professionally recorded by seasoned musicians and can help you develop your ear along with your skills.

Amplifier $140.19 Generally, an amplifier or simply amp, is any device that changes, usually increases, the amplitude of a signal. The relationship of the input to the output of an amplifierusually expressed as a function of the input frequencyis called the transfer function of the amplifier, and the magnitude of the transfer function is termed the gain. In popular use, the term usually describes an electronic amplifier, in which the input signal is usually voltage or current. In audio applications, amplifiers operate loudspeakers used in PA systems to make the human voice louder or play recorded music. Amplifiers may be classified according to the input (source) they are designed to amplify (such as a guitar amplifier, to perform with an electric guitar), the device they are intended to drive (such as a headphone amplifier), the frequency range of the signals (Audio, IF, RF, and VHF amplifiers, for example), whether they invert the signal (inverting amplifiers and noninverting amplifiers), or the type of device used in the amplification (valve or tube amplifiers, FET amplifiers, etc.). Tube-Tech Ssa-2B Stereo Summing Amplifier $4275 Yes, you can mix inside the box and get good results, but with the Tube-Tech SSA 2B Stereo Summing Amplifier, you can mix inside a much better box and get stunning results. Where extremely high-quality summing of several signals into two channels is desired (and where isn't it?), the SSA 2B is a top choice. Tube-Tech SSA 2B Stereo Summing Amplifier, First Take:Ultra high-quality summing amplifier with very wide frequency response8 stereo/4mono inputs summed to 2 channels out Inputs balanced by zero field transformerBalanced and fully floating outputsUltra High-Quality Summing AmplifierThe rackmountable Tube-Tech SSA 2B Stereo summing amplifier features two very low-noise, low-distortion summing amplifiers with a very wide frequency response of 5Hz - 100 kHz. The inputs are transformer balanced and the circuits are symmetrical from input to output. The inputs are also capable of handling extremely high input levels. 8 Stereo/4 Mono Inputs Summed to 2 OutputsThe Tube-Tech SSA 2B summing amplifier has 4 mono input (hard wired to CH1 and CH2) and 8 stereo inputs, which are summed to two outputs. The SSA 2A consists of a summing amplifier at the input, a 23 stepped attenuator with a range of +/- 10 dB and an output stage. Two large VU-meters show the levels on the XLR output sockets. To avoid the distortion introduced by the VU-meters when connected directly to the output XLR sockets, symmetrical configured OP- amps buffer the VU-meters. The summing amplifier is a symmetrical two-stage amplifier, designed around two dual, low impedance, and high transconductance triodes. The input transformer is part of the dual feedback configured as a so-called zero field transformer. The attenuator is a heavy gilded 2 x 23-position switch with steps of +/- 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10dB. The output stage is designed around two dual triodes in push-pull and an output transformer (with a static screen). Both the summing amplifiers and the output amplifiers are symmetrical. Zero Field Transformer-Balanced InputsAll inputs on the Tube-Tech summing amplifier are balanced by two zero field transformers (one for each channel). In zero field transformer configurations, the transformer is part of the feedback circuit. There are several benefits to be derived from this: 1. The voltage across the transformer is reduced substantially, whereby a much smaller transformer is needed for the same specification. The reduction is of the same magnitude as the feedback applied. 2. The distortion at low frequencies is reduced substantially. 3. Frequency response in both the low and high range is extended. 4. Phase response in both the low and high range is more linear. The results are better harmonic balance of the instruments and more realistic sound.Balanced and Fully Floating OutputsThe outputs are balanced and have fully floating transformers with a static screen. Floating a transformer (not referenced to ground) provides maximum electronic isolation for superior noise |

Summit Audio Tla-100A Tube Leveling Amplifier $1999 The Summit Audio TLA-100A Tube Leveling Amplifier offers a classic amp design with a harmonious blend of old and new technologies. The result is a compression device with the incredibly warm and smooth sound of vacuum tubes without the inherent disadvantages of older designs. Summit Audio has been making the TLA-100A for decades and it produces a much sought after sound that has been used on literally thousands of records and in live sound venues around the world. The TLA-100A leveling amp uses a soft-knee and program dependent transition characteristic and a transformerless signal path, resulting in a set-and-forget compressor that always sounds right with a minimum of knob fiddling. With all the changes that nearly a quarter of a century has made in the audio industry, the popularity of Summit Audio's TLA-100A Tube Leveling Amplifier has yet to wane. The TLA-100A is a classic design with a technological hybrid of vacuum tube and solid state devices. The harmonious blend of old and new technologies produces the incredibly warm and smooth sound of vacuum tubes combined with the reliability of solid state. Compressing in a musically satisfying way is easy with the TLA-100A; the incredibly forgiving circuit design makes it almost impossible to make it "pump and breath." When fast transient signals are being sent to the TLA-100A, the unit reacts quickly both in attack and release, when the signal has a slower rise time, the attack and release times automatically react more slowly resulting in a set-and-forget compressor that always sounds right with a minimum of knob fiddling. Try it on vocals and bass, also great for kick drum and guitars. The TLA-100A really shines for tracking and mixing individual instruments and is linkable with another TLA-100A for stereo signals.Basic operation:After warm up (15 minutes), set the Gain Reduction control to 0 and adjust the Gain control for 0VU on the meter. Switch the attack to slow and the release to fast. Now adjust for the desired amount of gain reduction and recheck the output level. As the amount of gain reduction is increased, the processed audio follows a smooth reduction curve, thereby changing the compression ratio. In this way, compression may be easily controlled. If a large peak is detected, the unit will automatically increase the compression ratio to keep the audio output controlled. If a low compression ratio is desired, turn the gain reduction control until the meter indicates a small amount of gain reduction. If a higher ratio is desired, set the gain reduction control so the meter indicates a high amount of gain reduction. Try different attack and release settings, depending upon the program material and the desired effect.Tracking, live sound, mixing:Plug the TLA-100A into your mixing console's insert jack or patch bay. The TLA-100A also sounds great if inserted directly in line after the preamplifier.Compressing a stereo mix:Insert a 1/4" cable into two TLA-100A's link jacks, set the attack an |
