An acoustical neuroma, too called a vestibular schwannoma, is a harmless primary intracranial tumor of the myelin-forming cells of the vestibulocochlear heart. The tumor normally grows slowly. Radiation is an alternative to surgery. It does not remove the tumor, but many times can stop the tumor growth or cause the tumor to shrink.
