Acoustic electrics are a very popular among live performers because of their versatility. They can be played with out amplification around small groups just like a regular acoustic guitar, but for performances, they can also be plugged into an amp. Moreover, someone looking for a great high-end instrument would also do well with a Martin, and could find a superbly crafted guitar in the 2,000 to 6,000 dollar range.
Martin is known not only for constructing quality instruments but also for having a long history in manufacturing guitars and other stringed instruments such as the mandolin and ukulele. They have been around since the early 1800's.
Some famous musicians who have been known to play Martins are Paul Simon, Johnny Cash, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, John Mayer, Steve Miller, Graham Nash, David Crosby, and Sting.
